North Wales IAS worked with a client who was running her own business from home. With Christmas fast approaching she was overwhelmed with all the orders and emails. She would work 7 days a week but felt that she was not achieving anything as she didn’t know where so start.
North Wales IAS worked with the client to break down her workload in the following ways:
- Categorising emails into ‘urgent’, ‘this week’ and ‘can wait’.
- The suggestion of completing 3 tasks/emails a day to avoid becoming overwhelmed.
- Making the workload visual – using post it notes to write tasks on and put these on the wall in different categories.
- The suggestion of including a ‘completed’ category (this was important for the client to see the progress and her achievements).
- Encouraging the client to take time off and to write fun activities she would like to do and do at least 1 of these activities a week.
